Ironman Aid Station - 2006

Each year, our club sets up an aid station for Ironman. It's on the top of the hill heading out Highway 3A, about 10 Km from Kaleden.

Anticipation

The setup is done, now all we need it the athletes.

Getting Attention

Holding a water bottle out normally does the trick. For the tired ones, they didn't notice until we yelled "Water"

The Handoff

Notice the shadow. You can see the bottle is gone from Randy's hand.

Another Handoff

For the most part, we had 6 people handing water out at the start of the aid station. Then Gatoraide, then food, then more Gatoraide, then more water.

Supply

Here you see Lloyd with 3 bottles. At the height of the traffic, we had 6 people at the first water station with 3 bottles each and we were out in minutes. The biggest problem we had was trying to get the water cold before handing it out.

Another View

You can't see it to clearly in this picture, but under the Canadian flag is the Japanese flag in honour of Shiori who was out helping.
